Coming soon to the Susse Collection shop the 2019 Calendar. I love to work to a story and a theme. This calendar is all about a journey through a Swedish forest. I decided to go through the seasons and in an imaginary forest world.
My story relates to my experience of living in Sweden fo the past year. Coming from the busy world of central London to slowing down and enjoying the peaceful calm environment of Swedish country side.
You can enjoy the creative process over at instagram.
Hello just sharing another positive lesson from the 100 day project. The project finished a long time ago but I intended to share my thought on the 100 day project. My previous post was about gaining new habits. Here is another lesson learn't. One of my goals when creating my illustrations for the project was to give myself a time limit of an hour. Create each piece and post it regardless if I liked the piece or not. This was a battle with my inner perfectionism. It was a great way to let go don't over work an idea. It made me work faster with unknown digital tools. I enjoyed this process.
During the project I also learn't a lesson on letting go. I was invited to take part in a market. I saw it as great opportunity for my products and online market I got really sick the week before and my doctor said no you have to rest. Worried about the investment in stock. Having a crazy idea of standing all day with a fever and high temperature. I just had to let go of that idea.
It made think and realised I also had to let go of some other things make life so busy. Unnecessary things filling up my day.
So letting go both creatively and on a personal level has been an investment in self care and health.
Hello so it feels really strange not taking part in the 100 day project. I have been journalling my experience. I will try and write a lengthy post in the future. While journalling I realised I had set out creative goals for myself but the process has also ended up being a mental reset and new creative routine.
Something I have been really lacking since my move to Sweden over a year ago.
Now the dust has settled and feeling more at home here. A routine was needed. With a 10 week school summer holiday looming: I had to work out a way to get work done. So I get up at 5 am which is easy in the Swedish summer. I would create my 100 day image. I started to meditate again and added this to my 100 day project practice. Now it's just instinct to do this and I use my phone less to switching off at night and not opening until my morning routine is complete. During the summer holiday I can work for about four hours until my son Rocket awakes. He is growing a lot just now as he wakes up late morning.
Meditating really has had a positive impact on my creative work. I start a piece of art work clear headed and less negative rubbish bouncing around my my head. I have to say my experience is not always like my illustration above all butterflies and flowers. More about thoughts of the laundry mountain that needs attention.
