Pro tip Tuesday - Why have a work flow ?

It's time for a Pro Tip Tuesday!

This week I have been thinking about workflows. Whether intentional or not, we all have them—

they're the daily habits we naturally develop in our creative practice.

If don’t know what a workflow is? It is a sequence of steps that are organised to help you complete a project efficiently.

Think of it as a roadmap that guides you from start to finish, ensuring consistency and productivity.

The benefits of a good workflow helps you:

  • Stay organised and focused on your tasks

  • Reduce time spent on repetitive processes

  • Maintain quality and consistency in your work

  • Track progress and identify areas for improvement

For me here is my workflow fro surface pattern designs

  • A word or name for a collection

  • A mood board with colour pallet

  • Drawing prompt list

  • Sketch out ideas

  • paint and draw some analogue motifs

  • Bring the motifs into procreate and make digital layers

  • I import into photoshop

  • Create my final pattern for print.

A work flow process could apply to your social media scheduling, book keeping, newsletter creation or reaching out to clients.

What ever the task is in your creative business think about your work flow process and keep the constituency and you will see that

workflows help you move forward to where you want to go..
